The First “Gui Zhou Gui Jiu Cup” – 2024 Midlands Chinese Golf Society Invitational Tournament and “Gui Zhou Gui Jiu” UK Launch Event
On July 23, the inaugural “Gui Zhou Gui Jiu Cup” 2024 Midlands Chinese Golf Society Invitational Tournament was officially launched at the Forest of Arden Golf Club in Birmingham, West Midlands. The tournament attracted 114 competitors from various Chinese and English golf clubs, including participants from major cities in England such as London and Birmingham, as well as Scotland and Northern Ireland. The event set new records in player participation, schedule organization, venue standards, and prize offerings. The championship title for the net score was awarded to Tiansong Zeng from Nottingham Golf Club.
Bridging UK and China through community engagement
The tournament commenced with a ceremonial tee-off, bringing together Chinese golf club players from across the UK to enjoy a blend of elegance and competition. The event also featured specially crafted cocktails made with Gui Jiu, praised for enhancing the occasion with a refined flavour and unique experience.

The tournament was proudly sponsored by Gui Zhou Gui Jiu, the only sauce-flavored brand under Yanghe Distillery. It was jointly organized by Leo&Co. Global Trading, the exclusive UK distributor of Gui Zhou Gui Jiu, in collaboration with the Midlands Chinese Golf Society, with enthusiastic participation from Chinese golf clubs across the UK.
Connecting the world through passion for golf
The organizing committee plans to host an annual Chinese Golf Invitational in the UK and is actively engaging with various golf associations in China, to create a sustainable platform for Chinese golf enthusiasts in both countries.
Nicolas Garrod, a professional golf coach from Harborne Golf Club, mentioned that the tournament sparked his interest in Baijiu culture and expressed hope that more high-quality Chinese liquor brands will enter the UK market. As a sponsor of the event, Kai Liang, the General Manager of Golf Joy UK & Ireland, expressed his delight in seeing a Chinese Baijiu brand successfully make its way overseas and be widely welcomed. He hopes to see more meaningful and in-depth activities organized by Chinese liquor brands in the future.
