China’s well know black tea has landed in Derbyshire recently

China Huangshan Cultural Tourism and Tea Industry Promotion Event was held in Derbyshire UK on April 28.

Originating from Huangshan region, the Anhui Province of China, Qimen Black Tea has been renowned for its unique, since 1875 with its signature ‘Qimen Aroma’—a delicate balance of floral, fruity, and smoky notes. Crowned as one of the world’s ‘Three most fragrant Black Teas’ along with India’s Darjeeling and Sri Lanka’s Uva Black tea. It has used to won the international awards for several times. Its production techniques have been inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Ye Jianqiang, Minister of the Publicity Department, and Deputy Director of the Huangshan Scenic Area Administrative Committee, emphasized in his speech that since 2017, Huangshan City and Derbyshire have maintained close exchanges, conducted multiple reciprocal visits, and reached several agreements on friendly cooperation. He warmly invited the international friends who admire Huangshan, expressing hope that more foreign visitors would discover its beauty, embark on a journey to explore it, and contribute to the development of Huangshan’s cultural and tourism industries.

After watching the promotional video for Huangshan’s cultural tourism, Sir Richard Fitzherbert Bt, Tissington Hall, High Sheriff of Derbyshire and Chair of Visit Peak District and Derbyshire remarked, just as the video showcases Huangshan’s breathtaking landscapes, Derbyshire also boasts many beautiful scenic wonders. We also kind to welcome everyone to visit Derbyshire, enjoy its glorious sunshine, and engage in collaborative development discussions within this historic town.

Joanne Dilly, Director of the Derbyshire Tourism Bureau, has visited Huangshan for three times. She stated that this event marks a fresh opportunity and expressed great anticipation for closer collaboration between Derbyshire and Huangshan. Joanne Dilly spoke highly of Qimen Black Tea, praising, it likes crystal-clear liquor leaves a long-lasting aftertaste. With just a sip, its floral aroma lingers on the palate, evoking the sensation of wandering through the misty mountains and rivers of Huizhou—a testament to the exquisite fusion of nature and human artistry.

Jiang Chengyong, County Magistrate Qimen and Zhu Hongping, Director of the Huangshan Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, promoted respectively introductions on highlights of Huangshan. Huangshan city and Derbyshire initiated collaborative exchanges in 2017, when Huangshan City signed an intent letter to develop friendly relationships with Peak District in Derbyshire, while the Huangshan Scenic Area and the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). These efforts laid the groundwork for advancing cultural-tourism integration and joint brand promotion between the two regions.”

Lewis Howe, Director of Sales, Buxton Crescent Hotel in Derbyshire, expressed confidence in the potential of Keemun Black Tea to thrive in the UK market. He remarked, ‘Both China and the UK are nations with a deep love for tea. High-quality tea and tea culture act as a bridge, connecting the cultures and economies of China and the UK. I believe British tea enthusiasts will wholeheartedly embrace Huangshan’s Qimen Black Tea.

During the event, the flag store of Qimen Black Tea in Buston Cresent Hotel Derbyshire was officially launched. Huangshan Scenic Area Management Committee and Derbyshire Tourism Bureau, Huangshan Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau and Derbyshire Tourism Bureau signed cooperation agreements respectively. The two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation in tourism route development, brand marketing and promotion, and further enhance international influence by holding mutual cultural exchange activities.
