Tailored-made Windows for Chinese government and SOES
TO fit the requirements of Chinese government, Microsoft Corp partnered with state-owned China Electronics Technology Group and launched a new version of Windows designed especially for Chinese government and state-owned enterprises.
The new “Windows 10 China Government Edition” features special security, identity, deployment, and encryption technologies and ensures data storage and usage locally, which is said to be able to meet security requirement of the Chinese government.
It will be first available in computers made by Lenovo Group Ltd, said Terry Myerson, head of the Windows and Devices Group, in Shanghai.
China blocked Windows from some government procurement lists since 2014 amid concerns about security.
Meanwhile, Microsoft released new Surface products in Shanghai, including new Surface Pro, Surface Studio and Surface Laptop. China is now the second biggest Surface regional market globally with annual growth rate of 50 percent, which will surpass the United States to become the No.1 in the future, said Microsoft.
